This London derby, the 194th since 1907, between Chelsea and Arsenal was a high-stakes match. Indeed, a victory for one of the two teams would place them in third place in the Premier League standings with 21 pts, behind Manchester City and Liverpool.
A goal from Kai Havertz declared offside set the tone of the match at the half-hour mark, while Cole Palmer proved dangerous as usual on the other side of the field. Both teams nevertheless returned to the locker room with the scoreboard unchanged after a pleasant first period.
The Gunners would finally open the score on the hour mark in this derby played at a brisk pace. Odegaard made a very good cross which Martinelli recovered from the left on the other side of the rectangle to score with great precision with a beautiful shot from the right. But Chelsea would equalize ten minutes later. Good work from Enzo Fernandez allowed Neto to score a winning shot from the left from 18 meters which put the two London neighbors back on level terms.
