Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as they look to sign a new number nine.
The Gunners are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table as they sit above Liverpool on goal difference and Manchester City by just one point.
Despite criticism about his summer signings at the start of the season, Mikel Arteta has proved once again that he has an eye for talent with David Raya, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz all pivotal to their success so far this campaign.
The Spanish boss will be looking to complete another successful signing in the next transfer window with a striker at the top of his shortlist.
There have been several names linked with a move to North London including Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen but the most prevalent rumour has been Sporting Lisbon’s Gyokeres.

The 25-year-old has taken the Portuguese league by storm scoring 36 goals and grabbing 16 assists in all competitions so far.
According to a report from Give Me Sport via Team Talk, the Gunners are looking ‘increasingly likely’ to bid for Gyokeres but they may not meet the €100 million valuation that Sporting Lisbon wants.
With a top striker very hard to find in the current market, the Swedish number nine will undoubtedly be courted by a number of clubs.
The 25-year-old has the physical qualities and tenacity to succeed in the English top flight, as he has shown already for Coventry in the Championship before completing his move to the Portuguese side.
