Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Sevilla star Lucien Agoume ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
It is thought that the Gunners ‘really appreciate the profile’ of the 22-year-old – who has built a reputation for his passing, vision and athleticism.
Agoume is best suited to playing as a defensive midfielder in a 4-3-3 but can also operate as a more traditional central midfield player.
Capped six times by France U21s – and waiting to earn his first senior international cap – Agoume has only been at Sevilla for 12 months thus far.
But Agoume could already be on the move with Arsenal now considering a move for the La Liga star, French outlet Foot Mercato have reported.
Agoume has the same agent as Arsenal star and fellow Frenchman William Saliba, which may help potential club-to-player negotiations.
It remains to be seen what kind of price may tempt Spanish side Sevilla into a sale if they were to enter talks with Arsenal over a possible move.
Agoume joined Sevilla from Italian club Inter Milan in January 2024, initially on a loan deal before they made it permanent in the summer, with the player signing a contract until 2028.
Sevilla paid less than €10m to sign Agoume – but Inter inserted a 50 per cent sell-on clause – which could impact his current price tag.
Agoume has made 31 appearances for Sevilla to date and head coach García Pimienta recently spoke about his importance to the club.
Quizzed about Agoume and fellow youngster Gerard Fernández last month,Sevilla boss Pimienta said: ‘They are two young players – although they have been professionals for a long time.
‘There are games where they better or worse but they are important for the present and the future of the team.
‘Everyone sees how difficult the Primera Division is. They have room for improvement, but they will continue to help us for sure.’
