Arsenal could see their chances of signing Newcastle United star Alexander Isak significantly improve after latest development.

Manchester United have been previously linked with the striker but now the Gunners could take the lead in their pursuit of signing Isak.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he wants to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney have been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Sporting’s Victor Gyokeres and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee have also been mentioned as Arsenal’s potential future strikers.

Arsenal have moved ahead of Man United

However, the Gunners have previously scouted Isak in his Real Sociedad days and they could be willing to reignite their interest in the Sweden international.

Isak continues to impress in the Premier League with the striker showing pace, finishing ability and the quality to link up with his teammates.

Isak to Arsenal?

A deal for Isak could be impossible to complete for Man United. According to the iPaper, the Magpies are considering putting a transfer ban on any dealings with Man United as part of their negotiations for Dan Ashworth.

Arsenal could take advantage of Newcastle’s fire sale

Rumours are circulating in the media that Newcastle are preparing for a fire sale in order to comply with financial restrictions, which gives the Gunners confidence in their pursuit.

Arsenal won’t be acting alone in their desire, though, if Isak is placed in the transfer window.

Should United comply with Newcastle’s demands and acknowledge the “transfer ban” provision, Arsenal may have unrestricted access to Isak should they determine that he is the most suitable option to lead Arteta’s line in the near and far future.
