Arsenal have lost another academy star to Manchester United this summer after talented goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk made the switch to Old Trafford.
Graczyk, who joined Arsenal from Everton when he was 14, was let go by the Gunners when his contract expired at the end of last season.
The 21-year-old was not long without a club, though, and has now completed the move to join United’s Under-21s side for the upcoming season.
While the deal has not been officially confirmed, Graczyk was named on the bench for United’s Under-21s last Friday as they beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 in the Premier League 2.
The Pole, who previously represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, has also announced the move on his Instagram, with a post captioned: ‘Buzzing to have signed for this massive club, let’s get to work.’
The move will be formally announced when the Red Devils publish their Professional Development League squad in the coming days.
Graczyk spent time on loan at non-league club Slough Town last season and made 31 appearances for Arsenal’s Under-21s during his time in the academy.
He is expected to be joined at Old Trafford by talented striker Chido Obi-Martin who left the Gunners having been unable to agree terms on a new deal with the club.
The 16-year-old has emerged as one of the best young strikers at youth level in England, scoring 32 goals in 18 matches for the Under-18s, which included 10 in one game against Liverpool.
However, the teenager has made the switch after being offered a larger salary by United as well as more robust promises of a pathway into the first team.
However, while Obi-Martin penned a goodbye message to Arsenal back in July, a deal has not yet been fully agreed between the youngster and his new club.
On deadline day, United confirmed a deal for a third youngster – Mali youth international Sekou Kone – with the 17-year-old set to join the club’s academy as he settles in the city.
