Arsenal are looking at alternatives to Ivan Toney with Getafe striker Borja Mayoral firmly in their sights.

Mayoral has been in sensational form this season, starring alongside Mason Greenwood for the Spanish side.

Mayoral has already racked up 12 goals this term for his club, putting him second in the La Liga scoring charts.

In fact, only Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has scored more so far this term with 13.

As a result of that form, Arsenal have stepped up their interest with The Sun reporting that the Gunners have tabled a £22million bid for the 26-year-old player.

A product of the Real Madrid youth academy, Mayoral spent time on loan with Levante and Roma during his time at the Bernabeu before moving to Getafe in 2022.

Since then he has scored 29 goals in 78 appearances.

Arsenal are keen to strengthen their side with a new striker but have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ivan Toney.

The Brentford star is valued at around £100million, meaning that Mikel Arteta's side are looking at more cost-effective solutions.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Toney, who's soon to return from an eight-month ban for betting offences, said: "Thomas Frank has been nothing but the biggest help I could have asked for. The whole club has.

"As a whole, everybody knows Brentford's a family club, they've been nothing but amazing to me throughout the whole situation. I can't thank them enough, especially the fans.

"They were behind me from the first minute as well. I have a lot to repay.”

Alan Pardew thinks Arsenal will struggle in the Premier League if they do not bring in a striker of the calibre of Brentford's Ivan Toney or Napoli's Victor Osimhen

Adding more goals to the team will be crucial for Arsenal if they're to kick on in the second half of the season.

The Gunners currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, five points behind league leaders Liverpool.
