Arsenal – PSG: Luis Enrique’s contemptuous response

Luis Enrique had not made Paris Saint-Germain one of the contenders for final victory in the Champions League. Well aware that his team no longer has world stars such as Mbappé, Neymar or Messi, the Spaniard has gone into reconstruction mode. But he knows very well that PSG’s performances in C1 remain enormously scrutinized. And tonight’s defeat at Arsenal (0-2) risks hurting. The Rouge et Bleu have never been able to impose their law on the Gunners who are far from unbeatable.

An impotence which inevitably highlighted the tactical choices of Luis Enrique. Expected at the turn, the Parisian coach first praised the performance of the Gunners. “I believe that the match in terms of intensity was high with Arsenal very aggressive in pressing and much superior in the first half. From 2-0, the match changes. They were a little higher and we were lower. We were not up to the task. They deserved it”he declared on the microphone of Canal+.

“I have no intention of explaining my tactics to you because you wouldn’t understand”

But then the tone will change. Asked to react to the Dembélé case by the journalist of the encrypted channel, Luis Enrique simply did not want to respond. Same pout when it was raised about a possible return of the Frenchman to the group. Faced with the Spaniard’s silence, the journalist then tried to obtain explanations for her tactical choices.

A question that clearly shouldn’t have been asked. “No, I have no intention of explaining my tactics to you because you wouldn’t understand. We have to correct a lot of things as a team, but I have no intention of explaining that.” A contemptuous response to say the least which will not calm the criticism made against Luis Enrique.
