Arsenal’s £30m misfit Aaron Ramsdale will reportedly leave on loan in the summer transfer window if the club fail to find a suitable buyer.
The Gunners are keen to offload the England international goalkeeper on a permanent basis after he lost the No.1 spot to David Raya at the Emirates.
Newcastle United have been strongly linked to Ramsdale but Eddie Howe’s side are not willing to pay Arsenal’s £30m asking price for the 26-year-old.
Arsenal do not want to keep Ramsdale in north London at all and will happily let him leave on a season-long loan if no bids come in this summer.
That’s according to new reports, with the Gunners conscious of Ramsdale being under contract until 2026 with the option to extend for a further year.
Ex-England star Paul Robinson is keen to see Chelsea or Liverpool take a punt on Ramsdale, with both sides possibly in the market for a new ‘keeper this summer.
Enzo Maresca is said to be keen to sign a new goalkeeper while Liverpool could join the race for Ramsdale if Alisson’s deputy Caoimhin Kelleher leaves Anfield.
I don’t think Aaron Ramsdale will move abroad, I think there’s a move for him in the Premier League,’ Robinson told Football Insider.
‘The one that stands out is Chelsea. Petrovic and Sanchez don’t seem to be at the level you want. That’s where Chelsea are at.
‘You look at other teams in the Premier League and he’d fit into most teams. I can’t see Newcastle happening with Pope there. Would Brighton be interested?
‘If Kelleher leaves Liverpool, there’s an opportunity for him to go and be a number one with Alisson.
‘Look at the amount of games Kelleher has played this year, compared to Ramsdale, there’s an opportunity there to have more game time and prove himself.
‘Aaron Ramsdale has got to go somewhere and he’s got to play. He’s been harshly treated at Arsenal. I think the way Arteta handled the situation was wrong.’
