Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez is attracting a lot of attention ahead of the summer transfer window. The latest reports suggest Arsenal are set to rival Manchester United for his signature.
It came as no surprise last week to see United linked with a left-back because it’s been a problematic area this season due to injuries. Erik ten Hag has been without his primary option, Luke Shaw, for the majority of the campaign and Tyrell Malacia hasn’t been seen since last term.
The former Real Madrid defender, 23, was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past when Jose Mourinho occupied in hotseat at Old Trafford. Gutierrez was coming through the ranks at Los Blancos at the time.
However, it is understood that Madrid have the option to re-sign Gutierrez for a mere £7 million – but their attention appears to be on Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.
If Madrid pass on the option to sign Gutierrez on the cheap, Girona will likely push the boat out for a bigger fee since there’s interest from top Premier League clubs.
Spanish publication Fichajes claim Arsenal are rivalling United for Guiterrez, with the Gunners having the advantage of being able to offer Champions League football.
There’s a distant possibility that United will be able to offer Champions League football next season, but we need to start winning football matches again.
United are currently 11 points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa.
