Arsenal have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attack in the summer and signing a striker is looking like a priority for them.

Even though they are the top goal scorers in the Premier League this season, they have still plans to make the team even stronger.

This season, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have struggled to make an impact while playing upfront for Mikel Arteta’s men.

However, new signing Kai Havertz has impressed in a false nine role after joining from Chelsea in the summer.

According to Keith Wyness, Arsenal would need to pay £100 million to get Alexander Isak away from Newcastle.

The former Everton chief believes that the Emirates Stadium is the best place for the development and the growth of the player.

The Sweden international has scored 20 Premier League goals this season and Newcastle’s need to raise funds in the summer has linked Isak with a move away from the club.

Alexander Isak to Arsenal?

Wyness told Football Insider: “I think you’d be looking at somewhere between £80-100million, and there will be interest in trying to take him away from Newcastle. He seems like he’d be the perfect player up front for Arsenal.

“There’s a lot of issues with strikers at some of the top clubs. Isak has had some trouble with injury, but when he’s fit he has shown that he’s at that level.

“Strikers always come at a premium, so £80-100million will be the price tag – especially for someone like Isak, who will go right to the very top. I’m sure Newcastle will do all they can to keep him, but I think he could go further.”

It remains to be seen where Isak will be playing next season but there is no doubt about his quality and potential to get even better.

Arsenal have scouted Isak since his Sociedad days

Since joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad, he has helped the club reach the Champions League and the Carabao Cup final.

Isak has been a consistent goal scorer for Eddie Howe’s team and has lead the attack with example.

The 24-year-old has scored in seven of his last 10 matches for the club, showing exactly the kind of form that the Gunners are looking for.
