Artem Chigvintsev, widely recognized for Dancing With The Stars and his marriage to former WWE star Nikki Bella, was recently arrested for domestic battery. Since the incident, a lot has happened and Chigvintsev is now reportedly seeking a protective order against Bella.

The incident, which led Nikki Bella to file for divorce and seek full custody of their son, Matteo, was a turning point for the couple. In response, Chigvintsev filed for joint custody and charges against him were also dropped.

We have then reported that Nikki Bella filed for a restraining order on Monday, which has since been granted by a judge. As a result, Artem Chigvintsev is now legally prohibited from contacting Nikki or their son, Matteo. He must also stay at least 100 yards away from them, their home, and other specified locations, with the only exception being court-ordered visitation rights.

Artem Chigvintsev has filed for a protective order against his estranged wife Nikki Bella, as reported by The New York Post. Chigvintsev’s lawyer stated that on August 29, 2024, Artem called the police for help, claiming Nikki Bella had been aggressive toward him. While he was on the phone with the police, Nikki Bella said, “Do you understand where this is going now, Artem? You just ruined my career.” Artem believes this shows she was trying to harm his reputation.

Artem also said he was shocked to be arrested, as he wasn’t the aggressor, and he later found out Nikki made false claims to the police. Artem’s court filing details an argument that started over their son Matteo’s breakfast, during which Nikki allegedly criticized him for not having it ready. Things escalated, and Artem claimed Nikki threw their son’s shoes at him and demanded he leave the house.

Artem said he tried to calm things down by taking their son upstairs, but Nikki forced her way into the room, leading to a struggle where they both fell. After calling the police, Artem was surprised to be arrested. He also included photos of injuries to his hand, neck, and elbow that he says were caused by Nikki.

Chigvintsev’s account is very different from what Nikki Bella had to say about the incident. Regardless, there will be a hearing on 21st October, so we will have to wait and see how the case will proceed, as it’s evident the situation will continue to get messier with time.
