Artem Chingvintsev will not face criminal charges over his domestic violence arrest.
Chingvintsev, the husband of Nikki Garcia, was arrested for felony domestic violence on August 29. Further details were unclear, as it was not known whether Garcia was involved.
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office announced that they had declined to file criminal charges against Chingvintsev. In a press release, they stated that the decision to not file charges was made “after a thorough review of the criminal investigation and careful evaluation of the evidence presented to the DA’s office.”
Napa County District Attorney Allison Hley commented on the decision in the press release:
“While we take every arrest seriously and stand firmly against domestic violence, we have an ethical obligation to only file charges when supported by the evidence. We are required to prove any and every criminal charge ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system. If the available evidence doesn’t rise to this level of proof, then we cannot ethically file charges.”
In the press release, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office announced that they would not be releasing any further information about the case.
Garcia filed for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev following his arrest.
