Barcelona have been given a chance to dream again. Hosting PSG in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, Barça will be vying to defend their one-goal advantage.
However, despite reigning supreme in the first leg, the task is only halfway complete, and the Parisians are expected to raise the ante in the return leg as they seek redemption.
Former Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal believes Barcelona will get the job done, though, as his prediction for this year’s Champions League edition has surfaced.
Banking on Barcelona to go all the way
After joining in 2018, Vidal played 96 games for the Blaugranes and scored 11 goals. While he never won the Champions League at Barcelona, he predicts they will finally hoist the trophy this season (h/t Barca Universal).
In his estimation, Vidal predicts that Barcelona will prevail over PSG, setting up a showdown with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
With Xavi maintaining a strong record against the Rojiblancos and beating them twice this season already, Vidal envisions his former team reaching their first Champions League final since 2015.
Meanwhile, in the quarter-finals of the opposing bracket, the 36-year-old backs Manchester City over Real Madrid and Bayern Munich over Arsenal.
In the semi-final, he sides with Bayern Munich once again, whom he predicts will get the better of Manchester City.
As such, the former midfielder visualizes a final at Wembley Stadium between the two clubs he has previously represented.
Despite his past allegiance to the Bavarians, Vidal forecasts Barcelona as the victor of the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League title.
Bayern Munich have handed Barça their fair share of bitter defeats over the years, but Vidal believes the Catalan giants will finally turn over a new leaf this time.
