In a matter of hours, FC Barcelona will step onto the pitch at Stade Louis II for their 2024/25 UEFA Champions League opener against AS Monaco.

Having won five in five in La Liga, Hansi Flick’s brigade will be gunning for another victory to kickstart their European campaign.

For that to happen, a certain Lamine Yamal will have a key role to play. The 17-year-old has started the season like a house on fire and has already registered seven goal involvements, including a brace against Girona last week.

Given his tremendous form, Barça will be relying on the La Masia sensation to provide inspiration in attack against a resolute Monaco outfit.

Monaco come up with an ‘anti-Lamine plan’

In order to stop that from happening, AS Monaco have come up with an ‘anti-Lamine plan’ so as to thwart the Barcelona youngster tonight, reports SPORT.

Monaco have already defeated Barcelona recently, having secured a solid win during the Joan Gamper Trophy match. However, since then the Catalans have been in red-hot form, with Yamal’s performances hitting another level.

As such, Adi Hutter is said to have devised a plan to stop the La Masia sensation, who has been touted as the best Spanish player by Real Madrid legend Guti.

The Austrian coach has been working throughout the week and will in principle put it into action tonight.

Vanderson, a target for Barcelona, who is a natural right-back, will be positioned on the left flank to mark Yamal. The Brazilian full-back will be the man in charge of trying to stop the skilful winger from Mataró.

With Vanderson moving to the left side, Wilfried Singo will play on the right.

It will make for an interesting duel as Yamal is hitting top form and Vanderson himself has started the season well.
