Leicester City didn’t want to know anything about Boubakary Soumaré. Insistently tracked by AS Monaco, the 25-year-old midfielder will finally continue his adventure across the Channel with the Foxes. Monaco and Leicester negotiated for several weeks without ever managing to reach an agreement, which was based on a loan with an option to buy. The British ended all negotiations as the end of the transfer window approached. According to our information, they demanded a mandatory purchase option.

Soumaré therefore stayed with the Foxes, rather satisfied to have kept this guideline because they are counting on him for this season in the Premier League. The 1.88 m midfielder, landed for 20 million euros in 2021, is coming off an interesting loan from FC Seville (34 matches, including 4 in the Champions League) and intends to fight to secure a place in Steve Cooper’s eleven. The former Espoirs international (14 caps) had already experienced the Premier League with the Foxes before the club’s relegation to the Championship. His experience of the English elite would be something highly valued internally.
