Later, Prof (Dr) Subodh Kandamuthan, Dean of Training Programmes (Long Duration Programmes) & Director of the Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao Centre for Health Care Management, ASCI, Hyderabad, administered the Management Oath to all graduating students.
In his Convocation Address, Sri Anil Swarup shared his rich experience while working in the government, specifically how he overcame various challenges he faced in his life and emerged as a winner. He focused on the importance of communication skills and the right way of putting forward ideas. He also emphasized the need to focus more on things that are within one’s control rather than those beyond our control.
He stated, ‘Successful people focus entirely on themselves and don’t search for faults in others. To serve and contribute to others, one must first do so for themselves. ‘The journey has to begin with you,’ he emphasized. Swarup advised looking inward to understand and help others, without dwelling too much on the past—learning from it and not wasting time trying to change it. Since you can’t alter the past, continue to concentrate on the present.
He highlighted that worrying about things beyond our control is counterproductive. Instead, focus on issues we can influence. Effective time management is crucial; 24 hours are sufficient to accomplish tasks. Swarup advocated trusting people around you, stating that trust facilitates effective delegation of work. Fear of failure should not deter individuals, as learning from mistakes is crucial. While participating without practice is a mistake, the emphasis should be on learning from mistakes rather than worrying about committing them.
