The founder and Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, Matthew Ashimolowo, says the church, through its Christ Compassion to the Rural World Foundation, is set for a six-day crusade in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking at a press conference for the second edition of the CCRW, themed “Ibadan, This is Love,” Ashimolowo revealed that the crusade will be held from November 25 to 30, 2024, at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
He said, “The first edition of the CCRW crusade was held in Ikorodu with over two million people in attendance.
“The Ibadan crusade will be four times bigger. It has been packed with lots of activities, including healing, breakthrough, food outreach, medical outreach, and deliverance, among others.
“There are food items, including 150,000 bags of rice, 150,000 bags of beans, 150,000 bags of garri, 100,000 packs of noodles, 10,000 bags of sugar, 10,000 bags of salt, 10,000 buckets, 10,000 bottles of groundnut oil, 130,000 clothing materials, among others to be shared to people daily.
“Aside from the physical and spiritual needs, there is provision for medical examinations. There is a two-day medical outreach with 200 doctors, 150 pharmacists, and 100 nurses; free major and minor surgeries for 711 people who have been screened for various ailments, including cataracts, glaucoma, fibroids, and plastic surgery, among others and 30,000 deworm tablets for children.”
The cleric said the crusade was open to everyone, regardless of faith, adding that the outreach was to show the world that “The church of Christ is not only about collecting from members but also giving back to them.
“There are megaphones, bibles, books, and training with certification for 5,000 to 10,000 ministers by both foreign and locally known pastors.”
Ashimolowo said arrangements had been made with the Nigerian police and other security personnel to secure the environment during the crusade.
He challenged ministers and churches in Nigeria to follow in his footsteps in giving back to society on such a scale.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the CCRW Central Working Committee, Rev Samson Ajetomobi, lauded the initiative, saying it would give hope to the people of Ibadan.
“This is painting a new picture of modelling the gospel of Christ. It is a new approach to evangelism,” he said.
The Oyo State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju, also lauded the initiative and expressed gratitude to the convener.
