The Sea Stars are no more.
For much of their careers, Ashley Vox and Delmi Exo stood on the same side of the ring as the Sea Stars. On January 18, 2025, however, they were positioned across from one another in a Last Sister Standing match at Limitless Wrestling’s The Great Divide. During a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Vox looked back on the respective bout, which marked their first one-on-one battle in seven years.
The seeds for a sister vs. sister match were first planted at Limitless Fresh Blood in October, when Exo turned on Vox in favor of an alliance with Paris Van Dale. Luckily, Exo found her own ally in the form of Gabby Forza, with whom she defeated Exo and Van Dale at Limitless Rumble. Exo later bounced back at the Great Divide as she emerged as the last sister standing.
“I think it was a great story of what we told in the ring,” Vox said. “We were trying to do our own [thing]. Delmi’s been doing her own thing. I’ve been out of the loop. I came back and I’m trying to do my own thing, so we wanted to establish a story of how can we make the Sea Stars kind of end. We’re doing our separate things. Delmi came up with the ‘God Queen’ while I was away, which is great. I thought it was a great character that she’s been putting on.
“It was a great story. I wish we had a little more of a buildup, but I think it works out great. Starting off the new year, if anyone is trying to book us it’s like okay, Sea Stars aren’t our thing, it’s just Delmi Exo ‘God Queen’ and it’s Ashley Vox, ‘The Reel Catch. They’re both separate now. Sea Stars are done. It was a great story. Had a lot of fun calling that match with her and bleeding in front of our mom.”
Ashley Vox weighs in on Delmi Exo’s MLW run
As Vox alluded to, she previously resided on the sidelines with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Delmi Exo set out on a singles path as “The God Queen.” In doing so, she became a two-time MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion. Exo’s latest title reign began in January when she defeated Janai Kai at MLW Kings of Colosseum.
“It’s such a cool thing to see how far she’s gone with wrestling on her own,” Vox said of Exo. “I think Delmi has always struggled with always getting told no. She finally went out of her way and created her own character, was on her own, built it up, showed people and proven to people this is what I can do in the ring and it shows. Now she’s a two-time Featherweight Champion for MLW, and she’s signed with that company.
“She seems really happy working with those people. It’s pretty awesome to see how she has grown as a wrestler and as a woman. I watched her win, I watched it on the big screen here at home with the cats. I was rooting her on, I was cheering her on. Even my mom, I sent her the link to watch the show an it was so cool just watching that happen.”
