Aston Villa have decided to not trigger the option to buy clause in Nicolo Zaniolo’s loan deal and will allow the star to leave at the end of the season.
The Midlands club signed the attacking midfielder on loan from Galatasaray last summer and an option to buy fee was included in the contract. It is believed that the transfer fee is €38m with add-ons, but the Italian has struggled to make an impact in England and therefore, will not be staying.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Aston Villa will not be triggering the option to buy clause in Zaniolo’s loan agreement with Galatasaray. The 24-year-old will return to Turkey and will likely try to secure another move away ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Zaniolo started well at Villa Park but as the season progressed, his influence faded rapidly. This is a smart move from the Birmingham club as €38m is a lot for a player that is not playing much.
