A year and then he’s gone. Carrying great hopes with his arrival last summer, Caglar Soyuncu will not have brought much to Atlético de Madrid. Having trouble acclimatizing to the Madrid context, the native of Izmir had returned to his native Turkey by joining Fenerbahce on loan last winter. A fruitful stint that will therefore continue this summer and for the coming seasons. Indeed, as the Colchoneros announced on social networks, the 28-year-old defender has been sent permanently to the capital.

Atlético still wanted to thank the player for his meager stint in Spain: “The central defender is transferred to the Turkish club, where he has been playing on loan since January this year. Our club and Fenerbahçe reached an agreement on Sunday, June 30, for the transfer of Çağlar Söyüncü to the Turkish team. The central defender arrived at our club in the summer of 2023 from Leicester City and has played nine games with our jersey. Last January, he was loaned to Fenerbahçe, a club to which he has now been transferred. From Atlético de Madrid, we thank Çağlar Söyüncü for his performance at our club and we wish him good luck in his future professional challenges.»
