Joao Felix has had another disappointing season in La Liga and Atletico Madrid could be set to offer the Portuguese forward to Manchester United in an exchange deal.
Barcelona are set to appoint Hansi Flick as their new manager today as they move on from Xavi Hernandez after an underwhelming campaign.
President Joan Laporta will no doubt hope Flick is the man to help restore greatness at Camp Nou. The La Liga giants won’t be able to settle on targets for the summer until a manager has been appointed as Xavi’s successor, with an announcement expected to come today.
Barcelona signed Joao Felix on loan last summer but he will now return to Atletico Madrid. The former Benfica star hit double figures for goals scored, however, Xavi often named him on the bench due to poor performances.
United have reportedly been offered Felix by Atletico Madrid as part of their bid to sign Mason Greenwood following the United’s forward season-long loan spell at Getafe.
Greenwood is reportedly attracting attention from Borussia Dortmund, but Atletico Madrid have are believed to be in the race for his signature.
According to Spanish news outlet Todofichajes, Atletico Madrid have offered forward Felix as part of a swap deal to bring Greenwood to the Metropolitano Stadium.
Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, reportedly touched base with United last summer over signing his client but a deal never materialised.
The report suggests that Andrea Berta, Atletico’s sporting director, is working on a player exchange deal to sign Greenwood with Felix going in the opposite direction.
Interestingly, it is stated that fellow forwards Alvaro Morata and Angel Correra are also on the transfer list in Atletico Madrid’s overhaul.
If that is the case, should United try to get Morata instead of Felix? I think I would for what it’s worth…
