Okay Academy Members, time is up, extensions are almost over, and this is your last warning to cast your Oscar nomination ballot before the final deadline at 5:00pm pt today, Friday January 17.
Due to the LA Wildfire tragedy, the voting window has been extended twice. Originally the deadline was Sunday January 12, and then was moved to Tuesday January 14, and finally moved to today. In casual conversations I have found voters who took advantage of those extensions, and may still be waiting to voter before 5pm today, or in all the confusion and concern over the fires have simply other things on their minds. With other voting groups like BAFTA, PGA, WGA, ASC ultimately announcing their nominations this week it became apparent there would be no more delays.
The Academy has also just released the schedule for the nominations announcement which will start at 5:30AM PT/8:30AM ET on Thursday, and as usual will be split into two parts. Originally planned with a live audience at Academy headquarters it will now only be done virtually.
The 97th Oscars® Nominations in all 23 Academy Award® categories will be announced in a live presentation from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, on Thursday, January 23, via global live stream on Oscar.com, Oscars.org and the Academy’s digital platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook), NY and LA Switch pool ports and satellite downlink feed, national broadcast news programs, including ABC’s Good Morning America, and streaming on ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu.
