Awareness Program on Sakhi Services Conducted in Kollapur

An awareness program was organized by the Sakhi Centre in Kollapur mandal as part of the Poshan Abhiyan week celebrations. The event aimed to educate people, especially women, about important services and legal protections.

During the event, T. Saritha, a legal counselor, and Women’s Police Constable Renuka explained the five key services provided by Sakhi. These services include counseling, police assistance, first aid treatment, legal advice, and temporary housing for women in need.

The speakers also discussed important laws such as the Domestic Violence (DV) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. They placed special emphasis on the growing issue of cybercrime and warned about various mobile scams that target vulnerable individuals.

In addition, the attendees were informed that women in distress can seek help by contacting the Women’s Helpline at 181 or visiting the Sakhi Centre next to Vaibhav Garden in Nagar Kurnool district. For further assistance, they can also call 9951940181 to file a complaint or get advice.
