Aymeric Laporte, the heavy drag

Real Madrid have not made a transfer offer this summer for Aymeric Laporte according to the defender.

The Spain international was linked with a move away from Saudi Arabia despite being contracted at Al Nassr until 2026. Speculation began in August, with Los Blancos concerned about injuries and fitness options in central defence, and Laporte became a frequent option.

Laporte’s impressive performance in Spain’s route to Euro 2024 glory put him back on the radar of Europe’s top clubs, but nothing has changed. Real Madrid were reportedly only open to a free transfer if Laporte could secure a termination of his contract at Al Nassr, but the 30-year-old indicated those links were false.

Laporte ready to study offers

“There was nothing, no approach,” Laporte told Marca ahead of Spain’s UEFA Nations League clash with Switzerland. However, Laporte did not rule out a future return to Europe, as he reiterated his stance on not being completely happy in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, I am far from my normal environment and my family. I might consider returning to Europe in the future. If an offer comes, it will have to be studied,” he added.

Spain were held 0-0 in Serbia in their first Nations League game as European champions. Laporte played 90 minutes for La Roja and is expected to retain his starting place in Geneva.
