Real Madrid have already decided that they will not sign anyone else this summer, with the only possible exception of a cheap central defender.
In recent weeks, Madrid have been studying the possibility of acquiring Aymeric Laporte, although they have no intention of paying the price asked by Al-Nassr.
Laporte is aware that Real would only sign him if he was a free agent, and is therefore determined to make that a reality. According to Al Yaum newspaper in Saudi Arabia, the Euro 2024 winner’s agent is seeking a contract termination with Al-Nassr, which would open the door to a move to the Spanish capital.
Laporte finally at Real Madrid?
Ancelotti has already agreed for Laporte to join the club, should it become a realistic possibility. The former Athletic Club and Manchester City defender is also willing to take a significant pay cut to join Real Madrid, in order to bring his salary in line with the club’s expectations.
It will be difficult for Laporte to terminate his contract with Al-Nassr, given that money is not an issue for the Saudi Pro League club. However, if the project comes to fruition, he would be a prime signing for Real Madrid.
