Ayra Starr, Scorpion Kings to thrill fans in Algeria

Nigeria’s Ayra Starr will be joined by South Africa’s Scorpion Kings and Kenya-born Sofiya Nzau, among others, to thrill guests at the Canex Concert, which is one of the events slated for the Canex Wknd taking place in Algiers, Algeria, in October.

Starr, who is a Grammy Award nominee, will perform some of the hit tracks off her latest album and older songs. The South African amapiano duo of Kabza de Small and  DJ Maphorisa, who make up Scorpion Kings; Kenyan, Sofiya Nzau; as well as Tinariwen will also be on ground to entertain their fans.

The Canex Wknd 2024, which has the theme, One People, United in Culture, Creating for the World, is placing an emphasis on connecting Africa by deploying strategies to elevate the continent’s creatives on the global stage. Featuring key creative industry stakeholders from across the continent and diaspora, the weekend event will engage creatives, industry experts, government agencies, and investors to innovate solutions to the challenges facing Africa’s cultural and creative industries.

There will also be diverse conversations from top industry professionals; as well as networking opportunities, film screenings, a fashion show, a full-scale market and exhibition as well as live performances.

A statement sent to Sunday Scoop noted that the event has been carefully curated to inspire creative practitioners, stakeholders, organisations and governments to collaborate, share and embrace innovations in technology to strengthen trade and business growth.
