EXCLUSIVE: The Grizzy & the Lemmings preschool world is about to expand.

Paris-based IP firm Hari has put Baby Lemmings, a “gentle slapstick” CGI-animated series running to 78 seven-minute episodes, into production after boarding WBD and France Télévisions. The series delivers through 2025 and 2026.

France Télévisions is the commissioner and will play the show on its kids streaming app Okoo and France 4, while Warner Bros. Discovery secured the rights for Cartoonito and Max in EMEA. Cartoonito has them in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as does Cartoon Network in South Asia. Super RTL licensed the rights in Germany for Toggo.

French pubcaster France Télévisions, Cartoon Network and Hari teamed for the original Grizzy & the Lemmings, which has run for four seasons since first launching back in 2015. Netflix has been among the buyers of the show in the past, taking worldwide rights. All in all, it has sold to 200 territories globally and has generated more than 1.3 billion views on YouTube annually.

Baby Lemmings will follow the titular characters, to whom the whole world is a playground. They like to share that philosophy with their animal neighbors in the Canadian forest where they live.

“At first glance, blending the craziness of slapstick with the gentle nature of preschool content seemed an impossible task,” said Hari co-founder Josselin However, it’s in the core DNA of the lemmings to be playful. And it’s through this boundless playfulness that we discovered the perfect formula for a preschool audience: stories where any challenge can be overcome through games.”

Aurélie Wack – Warner Bros. Discovery, Kids EMEA, Acquisitions & Co-Productions Sr. Manager, added:  “We’re very excited to continue our partnership with Hari for this brand-new animated series, Baby Lemmings. It is perfect for our Cartoonito and Max upper-preschool audiences who can count on the playful baby lemmings to bring endless fun and heartwarming moments.”
