A Back to the Future musical movie might not be happening anytime soon, but fans across the country now have the opportunity to see the musical on stage! Days after director Robert Zemeckis revealed that Universal Pictures isn’t interested in making a musical movie with him, the filmmaker attended the opening night performance of Back to the Future: The Musical on Wednesday (November 6) at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Robert was joined by the film’s star Lea Thompson at the opening night performance. He also met up with the touring production’s stars Don Stephenson and Caden Brauch. In an interview with Variety, Robert said that Universal keeps asking him to make Back to the Future 4, but he’s not interested. “I would like to do the Back to the Future: The Musical [movie]. I would love to do that,” he added. “I think that would be great. I floated that out to the folks at Universal. They don’t get it. So, [there’s] nothing I can do.” The musical is playing at the Pantages Theatre through December 1 and performances will continue across the country.
