While speaking to Sporskeeda Wrestling, Carmelo Hayes was asked about the backstage reaction to him pinning Randy Orton. Carmelo Hayes mentioned that he’s noticed a positive shift in how people perceive him lately. He’s gaining more credibility and respect from others, which he appreciates.
Hayes noted that small perks like receiving free food at airports are starting to come his way. He enjoys sharing these experiences with fans, encouraging them to spread the word. For him, being in the ring with legends like Randy Orton is particularly meaningful, a reminder of his childhood admiration and a highlight of his career.
“Yeah, I can tell you, a lot of people are looking at me differently now, in a good way. A lot of people on the outside are giving me more credibility and respect, as they should. I’m even getting free food at the airports now. You know what I mean? These little things, like a couple of kids talking to me about it, I tell them to spread the word, tell their friends, so Toronto knows about it. It was a big deal and a big moment for me. But most importantly, sometimes just being in the ring with someone like Randy Orton, someone I watched as a kid, is super cool.”
