Olamide, a well-known indigenous rapper from Nigeria, previously acted in the Yoruba Nollywood film “Osun Funke,” which sparked intense debate on social media.

One of the most important musicians in Nigeria, Olamide is credited with helping street pop become a popular music genre. He has produced music in both Yoruba and English, helping numerous Afrobeats artists achieve fame. 2011 saw Olamide release his debut album, Rapsodi, under the Coded Tunes label. A year later, YBNL Nation, his own record label, published his second album.

This album featured hit singles like “First of All” and “Voice of the Street.” His third album, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth, came out in 2013 with popular tracks like “Durosoke.” In the same year, he became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Cîroc.

In November 2023, Olamide earned his first Grammy nomination for the song ‘Amapiano’ with his signee Asake, making him the first Nigerian hip-hop artist to achieve this milestone.

Known for his energetic stage performance and chart-topping hits, a throwback video showing Olamide delivering lines in pure Yoruba with remarkable passion, leaving his fans in shock.

The Yoruba movie ‘Osun Funke’, was directed by his debut song ‘Eni Duro’ music video director DJ Tee and it was released in 2013.

In the video, the ‘Hello Habibi’ hitmaker was seen expressing his frustration at a proud lady called Osun Funke who walked out his studio. He used his song ‘Stupid Love’ to insult the lady.
