Nominations for the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards are being unveiled this morning at BAFTA HQ in London. Scroll down for an updating list of this year’s noms.
Leading the pack at the longlist stage were Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon. The heavyweight trio tied with 15 longlist nods apiece. All three films pop up in best film, director, and the respective screenplay categories: Killers and Oppenheimer in adapted screenplay, while Barbie sits in original screenplay. The haul of 15 longlist mentions equaled last year’s record showing from Edward Berger’s war feature All Quiet on the Western Front.
Chasing the leading pack are Yorgos Lanthimos’s Golden Lion winner Poor Things with 14 and Bradley Cooper’s musical biopic Maestro with 12. Both films netted longlist mentions in best film, cinematography, director, and respective screenplay categories.
Other strong showings on the list are Emerald Fennell’s contentious high society drama Saltburn, which appears 11 times, and Andrew Haigh’s enigmatic drama All of Us Strangers, which has ten longlist mentions, including best film and two mentions in supporting actor with Paul Mescal and Jamie Bell. Jonathan Glazer’s innovative holocaust drama The Zone of Interest also has ten mentions, while Celine Song’s confident debut feature Past Lives netted 6, including best film. The strongest international showing was Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, with 7 nods, including director and original screenplay.
The BAFTA ceremony will take place February 18 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London and will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and BritBox International in the states, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and South Africa. Actor David Tennant has been set as the show’s host.
