Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon is still keeping tabs on how Manchester United are faring despite leaving the club at the beginning of the month.
The defender was sent back to North London after spending four months with the Red Devils on loan, during which he provided coverage for injured duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. While the latter is still sidelined, United thought it’d be best to activate the break clause in Reguilon’s terms and see him granted more game time elsewhere.
He’s looking to do exactly that, too, as since his Old Trafford departure, the Spaniard has signed with Brentford for the remainder of the 2023/2024 campaign. There’s little room for him to nail down a role in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, so the chances of a permanent summer exit seem considerably high.
Reguilon shows support to Mainoo
Reguilon settled relatively quickly when making his switch to United last September and has built friendships with several Reds that are still holding strong despite the distance.
After their win over Newport County on Sunday, he reacted to teenage starlet Kobbie Mainoo scoring his first-ever senior goal on Instagram; when the youngster shared a snap to Instagram of his celebration, Reguilon commented: “Baller”.
