Named in the list of candidates for the Ballon d’Or, Kylian Mbappé is getting closer to Thierry Henry’s mark in this competition.

Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid’s new star, learned on Wednesday that he was among the nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or title. This is not a first for him, far from it. It is the seventh consecutive time that he has received this honor.

In the history of the competition, there are only three days that have chained more nominations. Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane have been selected eleven times in a row. The first between 1976 and 1986 and the second between 1996 and 2006.

Mbappé aims for eighth pass

Thierry Henry also had a good time. Between 2000 and 2007, he was nominated 8 times. The Bondy player is therefore only one length behind the former Gunner. There is no doubt that he will equal him next year.

Mbappé is not the only Frenchman to have been selected this year. This is also the case for William Saliba, who is experiencing his first nomination. There are only these two among the Tricolores and the last time this number was so limited was in 2015.
