Former President Barack Obama gave his stamp of approval on the tan suit Vice President Kamala Harris’ wore to the Democratic National Convention just last week.

Obama, 63, took to X (formally Twitter) on Wednesday to cheekily point out that he wore a similar tan suit a decade ago.

“How it started. How it’s going,” he joked in the caption of a side-by-side photo of the politicians in a similar ensemble.

Despite 10 years passing by since Obama wore the unconventional suit, he noted that it was still an excellent choice in his book.

“Ten years later, and it’s still a good look!” the “A Promised Land” author concluded in his caption.

Obama’s post comes exactly a decade after he wore a tan suit during a White House press briefing, which generated backlash. At the time, Obama’s critics argued his outfit choice lacked “seriousness.”

In what some might argue was a bold move for Harris, the 59-year-old strayed away from the traditional black and navy hues during her appearance at the DNC on Aug. 19.

Ahead of her accepting the presidential nomination for the Democratic party, Harris wore a custom tan Chloé blazer and matching trousers.

Traditionally, the V.P. is known to stick to navy blue and black, however, she opted to mix things up last week.

Soon after Obama praised Harris for her outfit choice, many of his followers took to the comments to react and gush over both of their tan looks.

“You both look fresh with classy swag and confidence,” one admirer penned. “This side by side must go into the history books.”

Meanwhile, a separate supporter couldn’t help but call the moment an “iconic” one. “We love to see it, both of you iconic moment,” they wrote.

Not only did Harris’ outfit pay homage to Obama, but it also seemingly gave a nod to her viral “coconut tree” speech that recently became a popular meme.

On the official Chloé website, a similar tan blazer is listed for $3,390 and is featured in the color “Coconut Brown.”

Earlier this summer, one of Harris’ May 2023 speeches resurfaced and went viral online after she referenced the fruit.

“My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?'” Harris said at the time.

Many celebrities were spotted at the DNC last week, including Oprah Winfrey, who also opted for a pop of color with a purple suit on Aug. 21.
