Clément Lenglet weighs heavily in the finances of FC Barcelona. The Catalan club, facing major financial difficulties, is looking for a way to get rid of the Frenchman’s salary as quickly as possible. Recruited for 36 million euros by Barça in 2018, the former Nancy player extended his contract in 2020 during the Covid period and saw his emoluments postponed to allow the Blaugranas to get their heads above water during this crisis. Respected within the club for his professionalism at all times, Barça would look for the best solution for Lenglet and will not force him to join Saudi Arabia against his will.

Today, the former Sevillian would hold one of the highest salaries at the club and according to Sportall parties are looking for a solution so that Lenglet leaves the club as soon as possible. However, the French defender is not ready to leave under any conditions. He reportedly refused to terminate his contract with Barça. The club is trying to find him a way out but the Frenchman’s salary is a huge obstacle in the negotiations. Several European teams were interested but they could only offer 20% of the salary that Lenglet earns at Barcelona. Sevilla are said to be on the lookout to get him on loan but while waiting for a definitive solution, the Frenchman will be on the American tour under the orders of Hansi Flick.
