After finally making the decision to part ways with Xavi, FC Barcelona chose to bet on Hansi Flick. The German technician was informed of this choice, according to Sky Sports.

The decision is made for FC Barcelona. The Catalan club will be coached next season by Hansi Flick, the former coach of Bayern Munich. The Blaugranas chose to part ways with Xavi, who ultimately wanted to stay, after announcing his departure last January.

The former midfielder will lead FC Barcelona for the last time this weekend, Sunday evening, at Sevilla FC. Coming to the bedside of his former club in 2021, Xavi led Barça to the title in 2022-2023. But the following season was more difficult, on and off the field, with a season without a trophy, finishing in 2nd place in La Liga, quite far from Real Madrid. And especially with episodes of tension with the press which did not help the image of the 2010 world champion.

Hansi Flick made official on Monday?

In Germany, Sky Sports reveals that Flick has been told he will be Barça’s next coach. Sport confirms, adding that the former Germany coach was preferred to Rafa Marquez. Mundo Deportivo adds that the announcement of Flick’s arrival is scheduled for Monday, the day after the last day of La Liga.

Winner of the Champions League with Bayern in 2020, Flick led the German selection for two years, succeeding Joachim Löw after the Euro in 2021. After a failed World Cup, and an elimination in the group stage, he had been dismissed by the Mannschaft following a friendly defeat against Japan (1-4) in September 2023. With Barça, he offers himself a nice rebound.
