Officially appointed as FC Barcelona’s technical assistant last month, Thiago Alcantara is already ending his first post-career experience.

Thiago Alcantara’s return to FC Barcelona was ultimately short-lived. After officially retiring last July, the former Spanish international announced

his return to his training club shortly after
He had integrated the Barça organisation chart, taking on the role of technical assistant within the staff of coach Hansi Flick.

“Thiago Alcántara, who recently announced his retirement from the playing field at the age of 33, will join Hansi Flick’s team in the coming weeks to undertake coaching training”declared an official statement from the Blaugranas.

Alcantara gives way

However, this Friday, the Spanish vice-champion announced that the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich midfielder will leave his position as of August 16. Thiago Alcantara will be replaced by Arnau Blanco.

Former Barça youth coach (U16) for the last eleven years, Blanco will take over from the San Pietro native this Friday. No reason has been given to explain this sudden departure of the two-time Champions League winner.
