FC Barcelona finds itself in a more difficult financial situation than previously thought, as it will have to find a significant sum of money before being able to recruit new players.
The Catalan side have been facing financial problems for some time and have used various ‘levers’ as quick fixes to be able to sign new players in recent transfer windows. The club have sold several parts of their business to slightly improve their situation and will have to get creative again to raise €100 million if they are to sign new players in the summer transfer window.

La Liga requires the club to balance its budget for the current season before it can spend money on new players, according to The Athletic. FC Barcelona claims that German company Libero Football Finance owes it 40 million euros for a contract concluded last summer and is reportedly suing it over the costs. Additionally, the €60 million from the sale of Barca Studios is supposed to be added to their salary budget. This means the club needs to find around €100 million, either through these deals or other means, if they want to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The reigning Spanish champions could raise funds by selling their highest-paid players, such as Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong, before June 30, the end of the Spanish fiscal year. However, this would only help get the budget in order for the 2023-24 season. If they do not sort out their affairs quickly, they could be forced to leave new signings Vitor Roque and Inigo Martinez out of their squad for next season due to salary caps, with the former not yet registered for 2024-25 .
