Barcelona have managed to secure the future of one of their most talented young prospects at the academy in Guille Fernandez.

Indeed, according to Jijantes FC, the 16-year-old wonderkid has signed his first professional contract with the Catalan club today.

Guille Fernandez, an attacking midfielder, turned 16 last month in June and his previous contract with the Blaugrana expired on June 30.

Talks over a new deal had already been ongoing and the youngster has now reportedly put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Barcelona earlier today.

Having recently renewed the contracts of Oscar Gistau and Toni Fernandez, Barça have tied down yet another promising starlet’s future at the club.

Despite being only 15 years old, Guille Fernandez made his debut for Barcelona Atletic in the 2023/24 season. He went on to play seven more times in the third division for Rafa Marquez’s side, registering an assist.

Guille had been called up to train with the first-team setup by Xavi Hernandez in the season gone by and is now again training with the seniors under new manager Hansi Flick in the pre-season.

With the lack of options in midfield in the current pre-season at Flick’s disposal, the youngster might get chances to make an impression, although his immediate future seemingly lies with the reserve team under Marquez.
