With the European Championship just around the corner, Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente is taking a close look at all the options at his disposal.
The newly-appointed coach has already indicated his desire to build his squad around young players, which has aided several Barcelona stars.
While Pedri and Lamine Yamal are already on de la Fuente’s radar, Pau Cubarsi has become the latest player to be in contention for a place in the Spanish national team.
Fermin Lopez on Spain’s radar
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Cubarsi is not the only Barcelona player knocking on the door of the Spanish national team.
It appears coach de la Fuente is also tracking the progress of Fermin Lopez. The young Spaniard had been on de la Fuente’s radar even during the first half of the campaign, but he eventually lost prominence in the Barcelona team.

Fermin has produced a series of top-class displays, especially in the recent Champions League affair against Napoli.
When will Fermin play for Spain?
As per MD, de la Fuente may consider including Fermin Lopez in the Spain team for the upcoming international friendlies, which will serve as the coach’s last opportunity to experiment with his team before embarking on the Euro 2024 journey.
Spain are slated to play against Colombia and Brazil later this month and there is a high chance Fermin could be included in the squad, alongside Cubarsi.
This will serve as an excellent opportunity for Fermin to impress de la Fuente, who will have to announce his final Spain squad in May.
