Earlier today, FC Barcelona announced that teenage sensation Guille Fernandez signed a new contract with the club.

The attacking midfielder became eligible to sign his first professional contract after turning 16 years old in June and has committed to the Blaugrana by penning a three-year deal that is the norm for underage players.

Guille Fernandez turned down juicy offers

Regarded as one of the most promising prospects to be coming through La Masia in recent times, Guille Fernandez attracted strong interest this summer.

Given his contract situation, Manchester City showed a keenness to sign the 16-year-old, reports Toni Juanmarti of SPORT.

Furthermore, German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were also interested in acquiring the services of the teenage gem.

In fact, all three clubs are understood to have offered the La Masia prodigy much more money than what Barça put on the table.

Despite that, Guille Fernandez turned down the proposals and opted to pen a new contract at Barcelona and stay put in Catalonia.

The midfielder’s family, taking into account the player’s will and commitment to Barça, did not even want to sit down and talk to them.

Guille only wanted to play for the Blaugrana, even though he knew that in economic terms he would be losing out, and he never wanted to meet with the aforementioned clubs.

The 16-year-old is currently a part of the first-team pre-season under Hansi Flick, who feels good about the youngster’s potential.

Guille himself is understood to feel good and confident about himself and believes that the months during which he trained intensely with Barça Atlètic have helped him a lot to continue growing and developing.
