The Spanish men’s national football team has successfully qualified for the quarter-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after an impressive 3-1 victory over the Dominican Republic.

A standout performer in this game was Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, who delivered an exceptional performance that included both a goal and an assist. 

His contributions were pivotal in securing the victory for his team and despite being substituted in the 76th minute, Lopez’s impact on the game was undeniable, making him arguably the best player on the field.

Fermin shared the midfield with Alex Baena, Sergio Gomez, and Aimar Oroz, and his presence was felt throughout the match. 

The young Barcelona midfielder had a total of 48 touches, showcasing his involvement in the game. He completed 19 out of 24 passes, finishing with a commendable pass accuracy of 79%.

Furthermore, he also completed all four of his long ball attempts and maintained possession under pressure without being dispossessed. 

An overall performance

His performance was not limited to his attacking contributions as he also demonstrated excellent defensive skills as well, completing three tackles, the most by any player in the match, along with a block, a clearance, and a headed clearance.

Moreover, Fermin was a force in recovering the ball, achieving three ball recoveries. His dominance in duels was evident as he won 9 out of 12 ground duels and both of his aerial duels.

 In total, he won more duels than any other player on the field, with a remarkable tally of 11. Lastly, he also displayed discipline and composure, winning three fouls without committing any, further highlighting his smart play and situational awareness. 

His all-around performance, combining both offensive and defensive prowess, played a significant role in Spain’s success in this match.
