A new left-winger is on the agenda for FC Barcelona before the transfer window slams shut in under two weeks.

After giving up on their pursuit of Nico Williams and Luis Diaz, the Catalans are looking at AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao, although a move for the Portuguese ace will be extremely complicated.

As such, other cost-effective alternatives are being studied, one of whom happens to be Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa.

Contacts accelerated

Indeed, last night we reported that Barcelona are studying the possibility of signing Chiesa, who could be available for just €14 million this summer.

Building on that, Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t SPORT) reports that Barcelona are now speeding up talks with Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani, to try and reach an agreement over a transfer.

The two parties are advancing negotiations to agree a deal in the coming days and try to reach an economic agreement with Juventus in order to formalise the operation.

The key to the whole operation is the Italian international’s contract, who earns €6 million net in Italy and should adjust his salary as long as he is promised a contract for the next three seasons.

According to the report, the two parties are working on it and if there is an agreement, they will try to negotiate with Juventus.

Chiesa keeping his options open

However, for the moment, Chiesa is also studying offers from Premier League bigwigs Manchester United and Chelsea because he knows of Barça’s registration complications.

The Blaugrana are still yet to register their new signing Dani Olmo and are relying on the impending exits of players like Clement Lenglet, Ilkay Gundogan, and Vitor Roque to address that problem.

Knowing that his registration is not entirely guaranteed at this point, Chiesa is keeping his options open and is assessing the proposals he has from Manchester United and Chelsea as well.
