Barcelona and Real Madrid are almost always in the conversation when it comes to the potential signing of young jewels from within or outside Europe.

The two clubs have been at loggerheads for the signing of several talents in the past and continue to battle for the acquisitions of more such gems.

River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono is one of the players that both the La Liga giants are interested in signing and a new player seems to have joined the list.

Barcelona, Real Madrid eye Cardoso Varela

Indeed, as per Foot Mercato, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among a host of clubs interested in signing FC Porto teenage whizkid Cardoso Varela.

Just 15 years old, Varela is already a part of Porto’s Under-19 setup and has played three times in the UEFA Youth League this season.

The left-sided winger has also represented the Portuguese Under-17 national team, playing 14 games in which he has two goals.

Varela is held in very high regard in Portugal, but the teenager’s contract with Porto expires at the end of the ongoing season, sparking interest from a host of clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Many more top teams keen

Apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid, other teams like Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and Inter Milan are all keen on signing Varela.

In fact, the report states that some, if not all, the clubs have already made approaches for the young 15-year-old wonderkid.

The ball is now in young Varela’s court and he must decide which club he sees as the best destination for him to continue his football journey.
