Barcelona have cast their net far and wide in search of a new pivot midfielder for the summer transfer window.
Having failed to replace Sergio Busquets adequately last summer, the La Liga champions are on the lookout for a new top-quality defensive midfielder.
Names like Amadou Onana, Joshua Kimmich, and Jorginho, among several others have been touted as possible targets.
But the sporting department, led by Deco, is keeping its options open and has seemingly added another name to the shortlist.
Barcelona interested in Ederson
Indeed, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are among a host of clubs showing an interest in Atalanta’s Brazilian midfield enforcer Ederson.
The 24-year-old has been impressive for La Dea since joining them from Salernitana in the summer of 2022, particularly in the ongoing season.
As such, there is a long list of clubs from across Europe who have taken note of the Brazilian defensive midfielder, with Barcelona among them.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, and Spurs interested
Ederson’s contract with Atalanta runs until the summer of 2026 and as such, he is expected to cost around €50 million this summer, as per the report.
However, signing Ederson from Atalanta will not be an easy task for Barcelona as, apart from finances, they are also set to face a plethora of competition for his services.
Indeed, as many as four of the Premier League ‘Big Six’ – Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all understood to be monitoring the Brazilian ace.
Meanwhile, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, as well as Newcastle United are all following the 24-year-old enforcer as well.
As such, any move for Ederson, from Barcelona’s part, will not be straightforward.
