Sunday night was one that will remain long-etched in the memories of FC Barcelona fans as their team absolutely outplayed Real Madrid to secure a resounding 5-2 win, in the process winning the Spanish Super Cup – the first trophy of the Hansi Flick era.
It was a top-notch display from the Blaugrana from start to finish in Saudi Arabia as they made easy work of Carlo Ancelotti’s side for the second time this season.
Naturally, the mood within the Barcelona camp after the triumph was absolutely jubilant, as was visible during the trophy celebrations in Jeddah.
Barcelona board in great mood following return
The Barcelona camp returned to the Catalan capital early morning on Monday and the confidence of the board members was sky-high.
Indeed, according to journalist Victor Navarro, the Barça board was ecstatic upon returning from their successful Saudi Arabia trip.
The message that echoed within the board was that the team could have scored even more goals if not for Wojciech Szczesny’s second-half red card.
“Without the expulsion, we’d score 8,” was a popular sentiment that was shared by the board.
Meanwhile, there were other comments made, touching upon the recent problems that Barça have had to face with regard to the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, as well as the team’s poor form towards the end of 2024.
“We have been given so many blows this week…. We needed to release tensions.”
Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who shared a message with the fans via social media earlier today, is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow.
