Barcelona will have the difficult job of offloading players this summer as they hope to return to the 1:1 spending rule in La Liga, pushing for financial freedom.

The club knows the easy way out would be offload some of their players that are already attracting interest from other European giants.

Joan Laporta has already revealed that the club had offers for Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal, and Ronald Araujo across the last couple of windows that could have earnt them €1 billion.

Ronald Araujo, especially, was on the radar of Bayern Munich, who claim to be ready to pay €100 million for his signature. The player, however, showed his loyalty while speaking during Barça One’s premiere.

During the premiere of Barça One, Barcelona’s latest media venture, the crowd of Joan Laporta and co. were shown a few scenes from Ronald Araujo’s ‘Origins’ documentary.

During one of the scenes, Araujo said, “I had offers from top-flight clubs like Getafe and Sassuolo. My agent told me, ‘Barcelona wants you, but you will play in Barcelona B and not for the first team.'”

He added, “I told him, ‘If there is Barcelona, I will go to Barcelona’. This move made me a better player, and I think it was the best choice I made, thank god.”

Future Barcelona captain

Following the departure of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets in the summer, Ronald Araujo was promoted to third-captain of the club, below Sergi Roberto and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

He has always had clubs lurking for his signature, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool before he signed a contract extension at Barcelona.

Bayern were now pushing for his move, especially through Thomas Tuchel, but will likely withdraw once Barcelona tie Araujo down to an extension, as they wish to.
