Barcelona clear on their philosophy over La Masia players

Barcelona seem to have a clear and decisive strategy for La Masia, as a report from MARCA highlights that the club’s management is determined to provide the utmost protection and support for the players emerging from their academy.

To demonstrate their commitment to these young talents, Barcelona managed to secure the futures of more than half a dozen players within just three days. 

This quick action underscores the club’s emphasis on grassroots football, which they consider essential. 

They are working diligently to ensure that the success stories of players like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, and Hector Fort continue, as by doing so, Barcelona aim to retain its promising young players and maintain the strength of their youth pipeline.

Barcelona have renewed several contracts

In a significant move, the likes of Pedro Rodriguez, Adam Argemí, Iker Rodríguez, Lorenzo Oertli, Pedro Fernández, and Nico Marcipar all signed contract extensions with Barcelona between Wednesday and Thursday. 

Sama Nomoko followed suit shortly after. All these players were part of the Cadete A squad that won the league championship in the 2023-24 season. They will continue their journey with the club in the youth stages.

Additionally, a few days earlier, Barcelona secured a contract extension until 2027 for Sergi Dominguez, a central defender who has already played for Rafa Marquez’s Barça reserve team this season.

Laporta has always been clear about La Masia

Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, had expressed his pride in their approach to developing young talents at La Masia in the past. 

He stated, “Our philosophy is unquestionable. We always seek to create talents from La Masia. That helps us have economic and sporting stability. We have to be proud of how grassroots football is treated. We have a very good cadet,”

La Masia has become one of Barcelona’s greatest assets, serving as a crucial source of players for the first team and generating income when young footballers find opportunities outside the club. 

Over the past few seasons, players like Fermin, Marc Guiu, Fort, and Cubarsi have successfully transitioned to the First Division under the guidance of Xavi. 

Hansi Flick, the new manager, recognises Barcelona’s strong and unwavering commitment to their youth team and he appreciates and supports the club’s philosophy of developing homegrown talents. 

This dedication to nurturing young players remains a cornerstone of Barcelona’s strategy, ensuring the club’s continued success and stability in the future.
