Mika Faye is one of the select few Barcelona players likely to leave Barcelona in the coming days, as part of the club’s plan to trim the squad and reduce the inflated wage bill.

Faye is regarded as one of the most gifted talents in the Barcelona youth setup right now. But with Barcelona unable to guarantee him regular minutes next season, a move away from Catalonia has become a likely scenario.

The Senegalese international has had no shortage of suitors either, with French outfit Rennes, in particular, emerging as a favourite to sign the young defender.

Barcelona nearing agreement with Rennes

To that end, French journalist Santi Aouna has offered a fresh update on the future of Mika Faye, suggesting that Barcelona are closing in on an agreement with Rennes.

The two clubs are likely to agree on a deal worth €15 million. Rennes are expected to pay a fixed fee of €10 million and an additional €5 million through add-ons.

Barcelona, though, are not willing to close the Mika Faye chapter completely. They are likely to secure a buyback clause worth €30 million, knowing the defender does have the potential to become one of Europe’s finest.

Rennes yet to agree personal terms

However, despite the progress between Barcelona and Rennes, the French outfit still have some work to do.

Rennes, in fact, are yet to agree personal terms with Mika Faye, which could be the tricky part given the defender’s high demands, both in terms of salary and game-time expectations.

With just two weeks left before the transfer market comes to an end, time is certainly running out for Rennes, who are also likely to face competition from other European clubs.

Santi Aouna suggests there are multiple other French clubs also interested in Mika Faye, as he looks to take the next step in his career.
