According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, while Pedri’s contract renewal is not yet at an advanced stage, Barcelona remain confident about the outcome and are not too worried either.

The club understands that the decision largely rests with the player, who has shown a strong desire to continue at the club.

For some time, Barcelona have been in discussions with key players whose contracts expire in 2026, and Pedri is considered essential to their future plans.

The encouraging aspect in Pedri’s case is the optimism surrounding his contract extension, which the club hopes to finalise during this season.

Relationship is good

The report highlights the excellent relationship between Pedri and the club, especially under Hansi Flick. This is because the midfielder feels increasingly valued, both as a player and within the team.

After struggling with injuries last season under Xavi, Pedri has bounced back, regaining his form and playing a decisive role once again.

His physical condition, which was a concern last year, has significantly improved thanks to a special training programme designed by the club, focusing on daily strength exercises.

He is responding well to this regimen, showing his ability to handle the physical demands of top-level football.

There has been a meeting

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has already met with Pedri’s agent, Hector Peris, to express the club’s intention to extend his contract.

Both Deco and Flick view the midfielder as a critical part of the club’s future, and the president shares this vision. Although there are no immediate signs of a deal being closed, the club is confident it will happen.

Barcelona are clear that Pedri holds the decision-making power, and fortunately, he has indicated that he wants to stay at the club. With this in mind, the belief is that a new deal is a matter of time, not uncertainty.
